We would lie if we would say that Instagram is not our favorite social network right now. Since it was launched in 2009, we shared many moments in images -I still remember the first time when we could upload a 15 seconds video-. Through the years, it has developed and we changed a bit the way we use this app.
Apart from being a social network, Instagram is also your letter of introduction, so that's why you have to consider what to upload and how to do it, specially if you want to work in something related with Social Media, like journalism, marketing or fashion, for example.
First of all, you need to have a strategy. Whichever is the use you want to give to your profile, you're here for something and you have to know this. As we said, your Instagram is your cover letter, so it has to say something about you. You can do it with pictures of course, but also with your bio description and your profile picture. You can also use stories to make yourself known, for instance, if you sing, you can share little covers.
But the best way to have an attractive profile is uploading content in good quality. This can sound very obvious, but there are people who upload photos which look pixelated and distorted. It is not necessary to have an amazing camera to get a good quality. Nowadays, any smartphone takes great pictures. One of the most usual mistakes on Instagram feeds is light, so consider it!
Another advice and this is only for those who are a bit maniac with their profile. You can also try to follow a color pattern with your pictures. It is something very difficult to keep and believe me I've been trying it for more than 3 years and I think it isn't perfect yet.
Before starting uploading images with no sense, you have to think about how your feed is gonna be. Again, your profile needs to define you, so you can choose a color that defines your personality or your hobbies. You know I am all about California Dreaming, beach and stuff, so that's why I chose blue as my feed color.
Keeping a feed is not just editing the photos with the same filter, is more than that -actually to me it's not this, I always use different filters-. When taking photos, you have to consider the colors of your landscape, your clothes, the framing and this kind of things. So here I let you some tips to keep your feed:
1. Take pictures where your feed color is protagonist. A wall, your clothes or even an object can be a good idea.
2. Neutral colors. Whichever your feed color is, there will always be a neutral color for it. If you always upload photos with the same color, it can be stressing and even boring. Try to add some white, the most neutral to alleviate a bit the feed fever.
3. Little details make the difference. This is true. Pictures don't need to be all blue -in my case- it can be white with a little blue touch -for example-.
4. Balance your feed uploading different types of pictures.
If you follow these tips I gave you, you'll be closer to get a perfect Instagram feed and it'll be the envy of all your friends. Of course, this is my way to manage my Instagram accounts and maybe yours works as well. In the end, Instagram is a creative platform where everyone shares his particular vision of life and keeping a feed or not, there are many content which is worth it.

MentirÃamos si dijéramos que Instagram no es nuestra red social favorita del momento. Desde su lanzamiento en 2009, hemos compartido muchos momentos a través de imágenes. TodavÃa me acuerdo de la primera vez que pudimos subir un vÃdeo de 15 segundos. A través de los años, se ha desarrollado y hemos cambiado un poco la forma en la que utilizamos esta app.
Además de ser una red social, Instagram también es tu carta de presentación, por lo que tenemos que considerar qué compartir y cómo hacerlo, especialmente si quieres trabajar en algo relacionado con Social Media, como periodismo, marketing o moda, por ejemplo.
En primer lugar, es necesario tener una estrategia. Cualquiera que sea el uso que quieras dar a tu perfil, estás aquà por y para algo y tienes que saberlo. Como ya hemos dicho, tu Instagram es tu carta de presentación, asà que tiene que decir algo sobre ti. Puede ser a través de imágenes, por supuesto, pero también con la descripción de la biografÃa y la foto de perfil. También puedes usar las stories para darte a conocer, por ejemplo, si cantas, puedes compartir pequeñas covers.
Pero la mejor manera de tener un perfil atractivo es compartir contenido de buena calidad. Puede sonar muy obvio, pero hay personas que todavÃa siguen subiendo fotos pixeladas y distorsionadas. No es necesario tener una cámara increÃble para obtener una buena calidad. Hoy en dÃa, cualquier smartphone tiene una buena cámara. Uno de los errores más habituales en Instagram es la iluminación, asà que ¡considéralo!
Otro consejo, y esto es sólo para aquellos que son un poco maniáticos con su perfil, es que también puedes intentar seguir un patrón de color con tus fotografÃas. Es algo muy difÃcil de mantener y creedme que lo llevo intentando desde hace más de 3 años y creo que todavÃa no he dado en el clavo.
Antes de empezar a subir imágenes sin sentido, tienes que pensar cómo va a ser tu feed. Una vez más, tu perfil necesita definirte, asà que escoge un color que defina tu personalidad o tus aficiones. Sabéis que yo que soy todo sobre California Dreamin, la playa y esas cosas, por eso elegà el azul como mi color del feed.
Mantener un feed no es sólo editar las fotos con el mismo filtro, es más que eso -de hecho, para mà no supone esto ya que siempre utilizo diferentes filtros-. Al hacer fotos, tienes que tener en cuenta los colores de los elementos, la ropa, el encuadre y ese tipo de cosas. Asà que aquà te dejo algunos consejos para mantener tu feed:
1. Haz fotos donde el color de tu feed sea protagonista. Una pared, la ropa o incluso un objeto puede ser una buena idea.
2. Colores neutrales. Sea cual sea el color que hayas escogido, siempre habrá un color que lo neutralice. Si siempre subes fotos con el mismo color, puede ser estresante e incluso aburrido. Trata de añadir un poco de blanco, el color más neutral, para aliviar un poco la fiebre del feed.
3. Los pequeños detalles hacen la diferencia. Y es verdad. Las imágenes no necesitan ser todas azules -en mi caso- pueden ser blancas con un toque azul -por ejemplo-.
4. Equilibra tu feed subiendo diferentes tipos de imágenes y no, por ejemplo, siempre selfies, o con los mismos planos.
Si sigues estos consejos, estarás más cerca de conseguir feed perfecto y será la envidia de todos tus amigos. Por supuesto, esta es mi manera de hacerlo y tal vez tú lo haces de otra forma que también funciona. Al final, Instagram es una plataforma creativa donde todos compartimos nuestra visión particular de la vida y manteniendo un feed o no, hay mucho contenido que vale la pena.
